Manuscript The McNeese Review Call for Papers The McNeese Review, published since 1948, serves as a forum for articles and essays in the arts, humanities, and social sciences. The Review also publishes a limited amount of creative writing. The editorial policy and reviewing processes of the The McNeese Review are formulated and supervised by an editorial board comprised of faculty in the College of Liberal Arts at McNeese State University. Articles and essays should be scholarly but also directed towards a wide audience in the liberal arts. Manuscripts, essays, and creative writing should be double-spaced, submitted in duplicate, and bear the author's name only on the cover letter. Please include a self-addressed, stamped envelope if you would like your manuscript returned. Theme: Since its publication (first issue July 1997), Rethinking History: The Journal of Theory and Practice, has been dedicated to examining how historians today are challenging accepted ways of 'doing' history. Open to academics from different fields and specialties, the journal has established itself as the forum for debates covering a wide variety of methods and approaches to the study of the past. Rethinking History is also interested in new ways of telling the past; it is the first scholarly journal open to innovative and experimental forms of historical writing.

Notes: The first four volumes have featured articles by Keith Jenkins,  William Pencak, Dorothy Ross, Barbara L. Tischler, Chris Ward, Greg Dening, Wolfgang Ernst and Paolo Palladino. Future issues will contain articles by Hayden White, Georg Iggers, Mark Bevir and Frank Ankersmit
      To become an active forum for scholarly debate, Rethinking History Is Issuing A Call For Both Papers and Subscribers. Topics can include anything that fits under the rubric of historical theory and practice. The journal appears three times a year, and issues are regularly themed: Leisure and Sport, "the subjective" in history, experimental history writing, "the good of history", etc. Ideas for themes are always welcome. The journal also includes several regular features: * An Invitation to Historians' to explain how and why they write history as they do. * Concepts' explores key concepts of historical analysis. * Re-Appraisals - assesses the contribution of individual historians, past and present * Re-Reviews reassess "classic" history texts. * Notes and Comments section provides a platform for scholarly debate * Reviews and Review Articles survey the recent literature.

Miniatures: Rethinking History The Journal of Theory and Practice

Miniatures: Rethinking History The Journal of Theory and Practiceeeks contributions for a section of the journal devoted to a new form of historical writing: the Miniature. The subjects and style of such works are completely open. The only requirements for the Miniature are that the topic be in some way historical and the length no more than 1500 words.
     Historical moments, precis of planned projects, abstracts for articles yet to be written, vest pocket biographies, poetic reflections, personal encounters, outrageous reinterpretations the subject matter and approach of a Miniature need only limited by the imagination and inventiveness of the historian. Like all contributions to Rethinking 
History, Miniatures will be refereed -- by standards appropriate to the form.
